Renaissance Hotels unveils R FINDS: A digital marketplace connecting travellers with local artisans

Renaissance Hotels celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Global Day of Discovery with the launch of R FINDS, a global digital marketplace that highlights and supports local artisans, creators, and small businesses. This exciting new platform connects travellers to the soul of each Renaissance neighborhood, offering a curated selection of over 175 products from across the brand’s 175+ properties worldwide. More than just an online marketplace, R FINDS is a cultural bridge that celebrates the unique essence of local communities, giving guests exclusive access to hidden gems and local treasures.

As part of Global Day of Discovery, Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel embraced the spirit of localism by hosting The Evenings Market, an event that immersed guests in the vibrant culture of Johor Bahru. The evening featured live music performances by Keyin the Saxophonist and Ellen & Tim, adding to the lively atmosphere. A highlight of the event was the Pekan Nanas Punch, a refreshing beverage inspired by Pekan Nanas, Malaysia’s pineapple capital. This drink symbolised the joy of sharing good food and drinks with others, capturing the warmth of community and celebration.

Guests also enjoyed the Bandung Lychee with Selasih, a modern take on a classic Malaysian drink. This sweet concoction, with its cooling basil seeds, provided a refreshing respite from the tropical heat and showcased the rich, vibrant flavours of the region. To further enrich the experience, the market featured seven local vendors offering a variety of artisan products and culinary delights, making the event a true celebration of Johor Bahru’s local flavours and craftsmanship.
 
R FINDS represents a shift in how Renaissance Hotels celebrates localism, evolving Global Day of Discovery into a year-round platform that connects travellers with unique makers around the world. Shibil Malik, General Manager of Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel, explained, “This marketplace connects travellers to distinctive, local artisans and small businesses, extending our commitment to positively impact the communities we call home.”

 

The commission-free platform allows artisans to gain global exposure, promoting products that range from handcrafted goods and bespoke home décor to artisanal foods and wearable art. Curated with input from Renaissance Hotels’ Navigators—onsite experts deeply connected to their local neighborhoods—R FINDS offers travellers an authentic way to discover hidden gems and support the small businesses that define each destination.  

Global Day of Discovery, held on November 19, provided the perfect launch for R FINDS, uniting travellers and locals through a shared appreciation for community. With over 170 hotels in nearly 40 countries, Renaissance Hotels continues to offer immersive, unscripted experiences that allow guests to explore the unexpected both inside and outside the hotel.
