A botanical gastronomic oasis at embu at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore has unveiled embu, a culinary oasis that draws inspiration from one of the city-state’s distinctive heritage trees, the Tembusu. As part of the hotel’s extensive transformation, the beloved Melt Café has been rejuvenated, and the result is a dining destination that promises an epicurean adventure featuring flavours from around the world.

Designed by the award-winning Silverfox Studios in collaboration with the internationally acclaimed design firm DESIGNWILKES, embu exudes a vibrant, lush atmosphere, making it ideal for celebratory occasions and casual gatherings. The restaurant is a cosy, botanical-inspired sanctuary adorned with a louvred timber canopy and leaf motifs, creating an ambience that is quintessentially Singaporean.

One of the standout features of embu is its stunning Peranakan black and white tile flooring, paying homage to Singapore’s rich heritage. This statement design truly encapsulates the essence of an Exceptionally Singapore. Located on Level 3, embu offers a spacious indoor area with communal tables and cosy sections in the main dining hall, as well as an inviting outdoor terrace. The outdoor area includes grill and wood-fired pizza stations, as well as a dedicated playground for the little ones.
Embu’s culinary offerings are a feast for the senses. Guests can look forward to a lavish spread of delicacies from its 11 culinary stations. These stations showcase fresh seafood, succulent meats, a wide selection of sashimi and sushi, European and Asian delights, signature Indian and local specialties, and an ensemble of handcrafted desserts. Highlights include freshly shucked Pacific & Atlantic oysters, a luxurious rendition of Singapore Laksa topped with king prawn and scallop, Tandoori Chicken infused with saffron, and the locally inspired Chilli Crab pizza.

For weekend dinners (Friday to Sunday), diners can enjoy a variety of barbecued specialties such as Tomahawk Steak, Rosemary Garlic Lamb Chop, and Thai-style Grilled Pork Jowl from the alfresco grill station. The highly anticipated Sunday Champagne Brunch is set to debut at embu, offering a prelude to a series of festive brunches where diners can indulge in a smorgasbord of culinary creations paired with flutes of champagne.
Embu caters to its youngest patrons with a dedicated kid’s buffet counter, featuring a range of mini savoury cones, a pyramid of sandwiches, and a healthy selection of fruits served in the form of French fries, all accompanied by strawberry and mango dips. embu at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, offers a delectable culinary journey within a botanical setting inspired by Singapore’s heritage. It’s a must-visit destination for locals and international travellers seeking a unique and memorable dining experience in the heart of the city.
