PARKROYAL redefines travel with ‘All Things Local’ experience

PARKROYAL Hotels & Resorts has embarked on a transformative journey with its innovative All Things Local initiative, offering travellers a unique opportunity to delve into the cultural tapestry of regions surrounding their properties. From the vibrant streets of Singapore and Malaysia to the timeless traditions of Japan and the stunning landscapes of Australia, this initiative seeks to connect visitors with the essence of their chosen destinations.

The adventure commences with PARKROYAL’s All Things Local stay packages at PARKROYAL on Beach Road, Singapore. These carefully curated packages offer a wide array of interactive experiences, from culinary journeys deeply embedded in the local culture to hands-on artisan workshops led by community entrepreneurs. Situated in the historic Kampong Gelam precinct, this hotel showcases captivating street art, heritage establishments, and a rich tapestry of Malay traditions. A hidden gem within this district is Haji Lane, Singapore’s narrowest street.

Guests choosing to stay at this hotel can indulge in a variety of activities, including a ketupat leather crafting workshop, where they can create leather coin pouches inspired by iconic local culinary delights. Alternatively, they can embark on an intimate visit to the home of Jasmine Adams, a local kueh mould collector. The All Things Local stay packages are available from October 6, 2023, to April 6, 2024, with prices starting at SS$380++. Guests can select one activity of their choice for a 2D1N room stay for two. These activities are thoughtfully designed in collaboration with Culturally, a local curator.

The culinary experience at PARKROYAL on Beach Road brings to the table the exquisite sambal balado, a chili sauce that’s a true masterpiece. It’s not just any chili sauce; it’s a complex and flavourful concoction that stands as a symbol of the region’s rich and diverse culinary traditions. To elevate this experience further, the Ginger restaurant masterfully incorporates sambal balado into their timeless dishes, adding a unique twist to familiar favourites. This infusion allows diners to savour the essence of the region’s flavours while enjoying iconic dishes like never before.

For those seeking an extraordinary beverage adventure, Club 5, well-known for its signature cocktails inspired by the spice trading history of Kampong Gelam, offers a captivating journey through time and culture. Each precinct at Club 5 offers a distinct cocktail experience, paying homage to the area’s rich history. For instance, the High Tide Swizzle transports guests to the shores of Beach Road, with a refreshing and tropical vodka sour that harks back to the days when it was a shoreline. Meanwhile, the Merchant’s Old Fashioned, infused with spiced rum, showcases the spices that were once heavily traded in the open-air markets of Arab Street. Additionally, the Nasi Lema’rgarita, a delightful margarita, encapsulates all the flavours of the popular local nasi lemak breakfast. And over at Bugis Junction, the Pasar Malam Sipper is a rum sour that captures the essence of spice-infused night markets, while the Calm Waters offers a refreshing non-alcoholic dark n’ stormy with tropical and spicy notes.

The All Things Local initiative doesn’t end here. It extends to other PARKROYAL properties. At PARKROYAL Monash Melbourne, guests can relish local craft beer creations and indulge in a guided beer tasting experience. PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney, invites guests to delve into Aboriginal culture with guided walks and picnics.

PARKROYAL Penang Resort in Malaysia offers a Garden Nature Tour led by a hospitable PARKROYAL ambassador, providing an intimate encounter with nature. For Pan Pacific DISCOVERY members, memorable local experiences are tailored to their preferred destinations.

In the next two years, PARKROYAL Hotels & Resorts plans to expand its footprint across the region, with six new properties in the pipeline. Travellers can anticipate an even deeper immersion into local experiences as they explore these new destinations. The All Things Local initiative marks a new era in travel, where authenticity, cultural immersion, and the preservation of traditions take centre stage. Guests are invited to create enduring memories while embracing the heart of their chosen destinations.
