Wild Rice launches first children theatre production with The Velveteen Rabbit

Bringing the magic and wonders of theatrical art to kids, Wild Rice launches their A Little Wild division this year. Specially created to produce children’s theatre that entertains, educates, and enriches young audiences, Singapore’s top theatre-makers and drama educators come together to present fun and nurturing spaces with A Little Wild.

Let your child’s mind roam free, Opening the hearts and minds of children, A Little Wild kickstarts their mission with a brand-new adaptation of Margery Williams’ classic children story, The Velveteen Rabbit.

Going on stage come August, The Velveteen Rabbit is adapted for the stage by Wild Rice’s Associate Artistic Director for Youth & Education Thomas Lim and directed by Ian Loy, renowned for his work with young audiences.

An endearing tale about a stuffed toy rabbit that yearns to become real, The Velveteen Rabbit explores timeless themes of friendship, self-acceptance, and what it means to be alive – themes that will undoubtedly etch themselves into the minds of kids as they come of age and navigate their own sets of adversities.

Just in time to celebrate the classic tale’s 101st anniversary, have an unforgettable family day out at the theatre with A Little Wild as they follow the Velveteen Rabbit’s adventure from the time she first arrives in Boy’s playroom on Christmas morning.

Troubled by feelings of being overshadowed and forgotten, Rabbit seeks advice and eventually becomes Boy’s constant companion, only to be taken away when Boy falls ill.

Will Rabbit ever see her best friend again? Will she ever become real? Catch the captivating story on stage from Aug 14 to 26.
